Target Overview (Class 6): Younger candidates need preparation focused on fundamental knowledge, natural communication, confidence, and polite manners. Interviewers explore background, interests, academic understanding, and motivation.

Students should practise introducing themselves by mentioning their name, school, current class, hobbies, favourite subjects, and achievements. Answers should be clear, brief, and natural.

Prepare to talk about parents, siblings, school activities, favourite teachers, friendships, and daily routines in an honest and fluent manner.

Revise basic Mathematics, English, Science, and Social Science concepts appropriate to current grade level. Candidates must understand concepts rather than memorize answers.

Study India’s national symbols, states and capitals, important national personalities, sports, key calendar days, current affairs, and basic Armed Forces knowledge.

Explain favourite activities clearly and demonstrate genuine interest. Reading, sports, drawing, music, and constructive hobbies provide useful discussion points.

Practise greeting the panel politely, listening carefully, sitting appropriately, and speaking audibly. Admit calmly when you don’t know an answer—avoid guessing confidently.

Thematic exercises help students develop observation, imagination, organized thinking, and the ability to construct a meaningful story from a visual picture or situation.

1

Identify the people, setting, activity, and background details.

2

Determine the central challenge, objective, or key event.

3

Include clear beginning, realistic development, and positive conclusion.

4

Show initiative, teamwork, responsibility, courage, and problem solving.

5

Practise organizing ideas and completing responses in time.

Practical Example:

If a picture shows students working together, a candidate could develop a realistic story about planning a school project, overcoming a difficulty, and completing the task through cooperation. Avoid memorized stories, exaggerated achievements, and unrealistic solutions. Focus on clear expression and constructive thinking.

SRT practice develops presence of mind, decision-making, responsibility, and ethical judgement.

Situation 1

“You see a classmate being bullied.”

Situation 2

“You find a lost wallet at school.”

Situation 3

“Your team is losing an important match.”

Situation 4

“An examination is approaching, but a topic remains incomplete.”

Situation 5

“A student is injured during a school activity.”

Situation 6

“You make a mistake in an assignment.”

SRT Preparation Strategy: Read each situation carefully, identify the main problem and provide a short, realistic response. Answers should reflect honesty, discipline, empathy and sound judgement. Where safety is involved, seek help from a responsible adult rather than taking unnecessary risks. * Note: Thematic Test and SRT are treated as preparation exercises unless specifically included in the current official RMS selection procedure.

Regular mock interviews help students become familiar with formal questioning and reduce nervousness. They also help identify weaknesses in communication, academic knowledge, general awareness and confidence.

At ORC Sainik Academy, preparation activities include:

  • Personal introduction refinement and body language training.
  • Subject-based questions & current affairs discussions.
  • Thematic exercises, SRT practice, and individual performance feedback.

Parents are encouraged to support their children’s growth at home by:

📚 Encouraging regular newspaper and book reading.
⚽ Promoting active sports and team participation.
🗣️ Practising confident verbal communication daily.

Consistency is more important than memorising a large number of questions in one sitting.
